Please kindly take note that the Tour de Tuli-Mapungubwe (TdTM) Cycling Event Preparations Task Team met in Beitbridge Town on 6 June 2013. On the same date the Task Team also had a meeting with Children in the Wilderness (CITW), the Event Organizers, and the two sides agreed on the major preparatory aspects. The Task Team and Organizers’ representatives also conducted a physical inspection visit of the key points on the route, including the entry and exit points on 7 June. Both sides expressed satisfaction with progress on the preparations so far.
Greater Mapungubwe (GM) Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA) is expected to host around 320 cyclists and 150 support staff from 2 August to 7 August 2013.  The entry and the exit points will be the same as those that were used during the 2012 edition. The cyclists will be expected to take off from Limpopo Airfield, Northern Tuli Game Reserve (NOTUGRE) in Botswana, spending two nights in NOTUGRE before crossing Shashe River into Zimbabwe's Maramani Communal Lands. The cyclists will be spending one night at Marammani Community Camp Site and the second night at the Fly Camp on Nottingham Estate. They will be expected to cross Limpopo River and spend the last night in Mapungubwe National Park, South Africa, concluding the event there, as has been the tradition over the past four years. The major difference this year is that the cyclists will be spending two nights in Botswana, an additional night from last year and two nights in Zimbabwe compared to three in 2012. The Fly Camp will also be replacing Kudu land Camp as their overnight location on Nottingham Estate.

The Organizers have conducted two Route Reconnaissance exercises in January and May 2013 and expressed satisfaction with conditions on the ground. The Task Team is working with stakeholders and efforts are under way to engage local business players and service providers to participate and meet the event's demand during the Zimbabwean leg of the tour.
