22 IVORY TUSKS SIEZED PARKS ESTATE.

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority this week seriously injured one poacher during a contact between the Authority’s rangers and six poachers between Zambezi Camp and Katombora on the Zimbabwean Side. The poacher is believed to be in his mid thirties and his now in Intensive Care Unit,(ICU) in Bulawayo.

 

The exchange of fire was as a result of the 22 ivory tusks. Of the recovered tusks some were still fresh from carcasses. A total 16 rangers were deployed to track the spoor of the poachers that had been picked.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority continues to warn would be poachers that illegal entry into the Park for illegal hunting is lethal.Washaya-Moyo stressed that officers in the field are more than willing and ready to protect the country’s wildlife resource and help bring the country’s conservation efforts back on track.

Washaya-Moyo also revealed that the Authority the compensation value for wildlife , elephant being one, in  the 2012 Statutory Instrument for the payment for hunting illegally animals and fish as well as the payment for trapping of wild animals.
