ZITF Asambeni 2010

The Zimbabwe Parks and wildlife Management Authority was part of the glamorous ZITF-2010
an annual event hosted in Zimbabwe’s second largest city, Bulawayo, also known as the City of
Kings for its cultural richness. This premium show offered the Authority a not to be missed
business platform for interacting with suppliers and consumers of services and various products.

Tourist Officer Oscar Muchemedzi charts with some clients.

It was quite encouraging to note that participation at the show was healthy although, the organizers could not arrange a competition for the Asambeni Tourism and Hospitality category (had they been a competition Zimparks would have grabbed one). A number of renowned tourism players attended the A’sambeni show. It was quiet evidenced that the quality of the show was heavily valued by the presence of the traditional tourism giants.

Foreigners impressed with the elephant shoes.

The mandate on marketing team was to enhance personal selling, opening and closing sales, on
the various accommodation facilities and activities within the Parks Estate. Stimulation of latent
demand for tourism products within the local market and informing consumers about the diversity
and availability of our tourism product. Captivating the little international audience and
stimulating their interest in the Parks estate as both consumers and potential investors was also a
priority.

The Asambeni stand

The Asambeni stand was promoting Camping & Picnicking in the Parks estate. It was interesting and important to note that His Excellence President R.G Mugabe and the Iranian President also had a chat on our Authority as they passed by our stand. The stand had a modeled camping site situated on a wet land with some camping equipment and of flora & fauna. An Impala drinking on a artistically created pool with some rocks and various vegetation and landforms gave the stand a fresh relaxing ambience. This was augmented by Information Banners and brochures. The curio project was also on display with the elephant leather products and TShirts on sale.

Foreign visitors mostly from Middle East (Iran), Asia and the Far East made inquiries on all the products which we sale i.e. Accommodation, Game viewing and many other attractions which we have in Zimbabwe. These visitors also expressed willingness to buy our products. However the local market was thrilled by the camping product as it had not been exposed to them.
