MAINTAIN STATUS QUO IN VICTORIA FALLS,V.P.J.L.NKOMO

On November 10 2010, Vice President John L, Nkomo chaired a meeting to resolve the management of the Victoria Falls issue following local and international media reports that national Museums and monuments had taken over the running of the world heritage site. During the meeting Hon Vice President directed that with immediate effect the management of the Victoria Falls must revert to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority until any recommended changes are approved by Cabinet. He added that the standing rules and regulations on the handover/takeover of State Assets must be observed.

Parks and Wildlife Management Authority immediately wrote to the Executive Director National Museums and Monuments Dr Mahachi requesting that he communicates the information to his officers on the ground in Victoria Falls to allow for a smooth handover\take as Parks officers were on standby.
