This year's Director General's Tournament whose finals were held in Masvingo's Mucheke Stadium left many wondering why soccer clubs were not present to scout for talent. Both the girls and boys head-office teams edged their perennial rivals from the West, Western Region. Though the tournament lacked sponsorship it leaved up to its expectations with all teams exhibiting good sportsmanship and skills throughout the two days.

In his remarks during the presentation of prizes board member who is the chairman of conservation Mr. Jerry Gotora,stressed that the Authority's leadership will do all it can to ensure that workers are motivated adding that the leadership also expects employees to be physically and mentally fit hence it is important to participate at such events.

Parks and Wildlife Management Authority Director General Mr. Vitalis Chadenga promised participants that he will do all in power to improve their working conditions.

Every region that participated took home something at least and the prizes were as follows soccer kit valued at US$350.00,3 soccer balls,2 soccer balls and one soccer ball respectively, while girls got a netball kit valued at US$200.00,3 netballs,2netballs and one netball respectively. The Director General, Mr Vitalis Chadenga also contributed US$100.00 from his pocket towards each region. After all was said and done it was time for participants to celebrate and celebrate they did until the wee hours of the morning at Kyle Recreational Park.


Next year's tournament will even be bigger and better with such disciplines as tug of war and volley ball being added on. The Western region was tasked to start making preparations for next year's tournament as they will be playing host.
