ALL UNDER ONE ROOF AT ZITF 2011... |

The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair,ZITF 2011 which was held from the 3RD to the 7th May saw Parks and Wildlife Management Authority making use of its Asambeni stand only as its other stand is still under renovations. The combined efforts from both marketing and Extension and interpretation presented Parks with a once in a lifetime chance to show the nation how good they are at putting up displays.

NATIONAL PARKS RANGERS ARRESTED IN BOTSWANA... |

Three National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and one Forestry Commission employee were arrested for allegedly straying into Botswana territory while tracking suspected poachers. The four were arrested on the 10th of March  2011.

Ladies and Gentlemen. As you may be aware boats are critical equipment in patrolling water bodies as are 4 x 4 vehicles in ground patrols. However, the Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has  for a long time been facing a critical shortage of boats to effectively police and monitor all water bodies under its jurisdiction such as the Zambezi River stretching from Kazungula to Kanyemba and other national water bodies which include the following Lakes, Manyame, Chivero, Mutirikwi, Cunningham and Manjirenji.Â

THREE POACHERS KILLED IN PARKS ESTATE... |

Parks and Wildlife Management authority is strongly warning poachers and would be poachers that the authority has taken a zero tolerance towards poaching stressing that anyone who dare crosses into parks territory for the purposes of poaching should be warned that the consequences are lethal. This follows two armed poachers who were shot and killed on the 5th of March 2011 in Chizarira. Â

ARREST AND RECOVERY OF CYNANIDE FROM LOCAL POACHERS |

On the 16th of December 2010 two accused persons were arrested at Hwange National Park, Sinamatela area Lukosi dam. One of the accused persons namely
Kelvin Ndlovu was shot and injured on the left leg and is currently recovering under Police guard at St Patrick’s Hospital.
